First dinner meeting of 2012

The first SPE Oslo section dinnermeeting of 2012 was held at Hotel Continental in Oslo, on Tuesday the 7th of February. The programme of the evening started with welcoming drinks and some catching up and networking between SPE members, followed by a welcome by the evening´s hostess, Kristine B. Ramsnes from the SPE OS board. 
Three guestspeakers were invited to the dinner meeting, Mr. Frode Lingen and Mr. Colin McPhee, both from Senergy, an oil company based in Stavanger that recently opened an office here in Oslo. Speaker number three, was Mr. Charles Stabell from the company GeoKnowledge, based in Oslo, Houston and Perth. 
Mr. Frode Lingen started off by giving us an introduction to Senergy, a company we hopefully will be more acquainted with in the future. Mr. Colin McPhee, having great experience in the field of core analysis, gave us great insight in how to increase the gain from core-data, as well as the vulnerability of errors in the data-set from cores.

The next theme on the agenda; "More Effective Decision Making With The New Stochastic Economics?", presented by Mr. Charles Stabell gave us insight into a new approach regarding risk analysis during prospecting. The company GeoKnowledge provide a software called GeoX which gives decision support solutions to several fields regarding oil prospecting- and play evaluation risks.

After three very interesting presentations, it was time for the dinner, and the chef at Continental never disappoints. Great food and wine was served, as always. 

Several of our new student members attended, and on behalf of the SPE Oslo Student Chapter; it was great to see you and we hope to see you, and other members on our next SPE event, at NGI on the 13th of March!
